MOE: PSLE Score Calculator

  • MOE has removed mid-year examinations at every primary and secondary level, so the end-of-year examination and the weighted assessments during the year carry the result. (MOE: removal of mid-year examinations)
  • In P5 and P6 a pupil can take a mix of Standard and Foundation subjects (Subject-Based Banding). The Standard subjects are English, Mother Tongue, Mathematics and Science. (MOE: Subject-Based Banding in primary school)
  • At the PSLE each Standard subject is scored as an Achievement Level from AL1 (90% and above) to AL8 (below 20%); the PSLE Score adds the four ALs, so it runs from 4 (best) to 32. (MOE: the PSLE scoring system)
  • Foundation grades A, B and C count as AL6, AL7 and AL8 when the PSLE Score is worked out. (MOE: PSLE Score Calculator)

Questions

What is a good PSLE Score?

Lower is better: 4 is the best possible score and 32 the lowest. MOE publishes the PSLE score ranges of every secondary school for posting.

Is 65 a pass mark at the PSLE?

No. Each subject is reported as an Achievement Level; AL8 in a subject is reported as ungraded.

How do Foundation subjects count?

Foundation grades A, B and C are pegged to AL6, AL7 and AL8 of Standard subjects to work out the PSLE Score.
