Secondary school changed for everyone who entered Secondary 1 from 2024.
- MOE has removed mid-year examinations at every primary and secondary level, so the end-of-year examination and the weighted assessments during the year carry the result. (MOE: removal of mid-year examinations)
- Since the 2024 Secondary 1 cohort there are no Express, N(A) or N(T) streams: pupils are posted through Posting Groups 1, 2 and 3 and take each subject at G1, G2 or G3, and can move a subject up a level later on their results. (MOE: Full Subject-Based Banding FAQ)

What it means for tuition
Because each subject has its own level, a pupil can need G3 Mathematics and G2 Science at the same time. Tell a tutor the level of each subject, not only the school year.
